The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) will be giving the late Notorious B.I.G their most prestigious award.
During the ASCAP's 30th Annual Rhythm And Soul Music Awards on June 22nd in LA Biggie will get a Founders Award for his pioneering contribution to music.
Previous Founders Award winners include Dr. Dre, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Smokey Robinson, Quincy Jones and Big's pal Puffy Combs.
“Biggie was a legend in his own time and his legacy lives on through his music," ASCAP President Paul Williams explained. "Like all songwriters, he was a master storyteller, but it was the realism in his rhymes that captured so many.”Biggie’s mother Voletta Wallace, widow Faith Evans, his children and estate consultants Wayne Barrow and Mark Pitts will accept the award on Big's behalf.
