The economics of streaming have always been confusing.
Nipsey Hussle pulled back some of the mystery with a tweet in which he broke down how much each streaming service pays per million streams.
ATTENTION EVERYONE:
— THA GREAT (@NipseyHussle) January 15, 2018
1 Million Streams on YouTube = $690
1 Million Streams on Spotify = $4,370
1 Million Streams on Apple Music = $7,350
1 Million Streams on @Tidal = $12,500
1 Million Streams on Amazon Music = $4,020

Nipsey's numbers are roughly in line with what Forbes found when they investigated what the streaming services pay.
However, there is more to the story. Spotify has 140 million subscribers, Apple 30 million, Amazon 10 million and Tidal only 4 million. So, at this point, an artist will make much more on Spotify than he would Tidal, even if Tidal is paying 3x as much per spin.
Given this discrepancy, are you willing to heed Nipsey's call and open up your wallet for Tidal?
