During his latest Vlad TV interview, Nick Cannon explained how he almost beat Eminem down for his disrespect of Mariah Carey back in the day.
“I went lookin’ for that muthaf*cka,” he said. “I went to Detroit. He don’t live in Detroit. He don’t live nowhere near 7th or 8th mile. He lives in Michigan and rightly so. He’s supposed to come up. But, I believe it was the BET Awards. Like I said, at the time I was managed by Chris Lightly, musically at the time, so was Mariah. Chris was managing 50 and he was talking to Paul [Rosenberg.] So there is a lot of conversation going all. this is a decade ago. Everybody knew how serious I was. I was there to defend my wife. I ain’t give a f*ck about no lyrics … you said some disrespectful sh*t about my wife and I’m going to beat your a$$. That was my mentality in 2009 … whatever year that was."
Cannon then explained that at the time Eminem was training to star in the boxing movie Southpaw -- The role eventually went to Jake Gyllenhaal and Em did the soundtrack -- so he wanted to at least set up a charity boxing match. But that never happened.
Cannon added that he similarly came for Howard Stern over comments he had made about Mariah Carey and Stern apologized and now they are close friends. According to Cannon, he expected Eminem to do the same, but he never has.
