Fighting about kneeling NFL players seems so Thanksgiving 2016.
But there's still passion over that issue in the Lamadrid house, and that passion exploded with a shotgun blast when father shot son during their turkey meal.
Jorge Luis Valencia Lamadrid's family had come to his Cary, North Carolina home for Thanksgiving last week. As they feasted on cranberries and stuffing, two of his sons began arguing over whether NFL players should take a knee. They took it outside, where things got physical.
Lamadrid grabbed his shotgun when he couldn't separate his two boys. The fight continued in and out of the house for some time. Eventually, Lamadrid's 21-year old son threw a water bottle in his face, which caused him to pull the trigger and fire off a shot.
His son was hit in the hand and leg and will survive his injuries. Lamadrid has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
The police report cites "heavy drinking" during the Lamadrid's Thanksgiving meal.
