Tomorrow, NBA YoungBoy's federal trial for being a felon with a weapon begins in California.
Specifically, YB is accused of having“a specific FN .45 caliber pistol” and ammo within the Central District of California.
The Feds are planning on using some of YoungBoy's lyrics against him.
The defense is pushing back on that. They are asking the court not to consider YB's bars in the tracks “Gunsmoke” and “Life Support.”
An FN pistol is mentioned in the lyrics to “Gunsmoke". However, YB's legal team argues that their client recorded the song before buying the pistol that the Feds caught him with so those lyrics shouldn't be admissible.
The defense also wants the judge to throw out YoungBoy's social media activity, another pending case in Louisiana, and an “unprosecuted event” in Philadelphia.
YB faces seven years if found guilty.
