With the biopic Straight Outta Compton dropping on August 14th, this is going to be a summer of N.W.A.
Today, Ice Cube announced that he will be reuniting with MC Ren and DJ Yella to perform as N.W.A. on June 27 as part of the BET Experience in Los Angeles.
Cube told Rolling Stone magazine that he hasn't been on stage with Yella since 1989, and Ren since 2000. N.W.A. core member Eazy-E died in 1995.
The elephant not in the room is, of course, Dr. Dre. But Cube isn't ruling out the possibility that his Straight Outta Compton co-producer will be there, too.
"You know, if you wish upon a star, you never know," he said. "You never know. It's like, I hope he blesses us with his presence. But if not, I've been rockin' for a long time without anybody. So whoever shows up, I'm still gonna rock. Whoever don't show up, we still gonna rock."For the sake of promoting their movie, something tells us Dre shows up.
