Migos Didn't Spend A Lot Of Time On "Culture 2"

by HHL JT

Migos's Culture 2 is a hit, tracking just a bit south of 200K in its opening week.

The reviews of the trio's third album have been more mixed.

In an interview with Pigeons and Planes,  DJ Durel -- who describes himself as Migos's  "producer, DJ, engineer, and a brother" -- explained that the boys from Atlanta sped through album's recording.

“We’ll do one song in 20 minutes,” Durel said. “If they really want to take their time on it, they’ll take 40 or 45 minutes. No more. When they’re in the zone, there’s no way you can stop them from laying down a good song. It’s going to come out perfect. It’s not going to come out rushed or anything.”

Culture 2 had 24 tracks, meaning they could have recorded it in a long day.

Do you think their speedy strategy worked, or would they have had stronger material if they spent a little more time in the studio?
