Meek Mill was supposed to be going to the White House to talk about prison reform but changed his mind after he got a call from JAY Z.
Donald Trump is spearheading a prison reform summit and Congress, activists and other folks will be in attendance. JAY believes that meeting with Trump would do damage to Meek's cause and hurt his overall image. The rapper also received phone calls from other prominent African-Americans who had similar concerns.
"I was originally scheduled to be part of a panel on prison reform at the White House to help shed light on the issues within the system," said Meek. "Unfortunately, the focus turned to the President and myself, which concerned me that it might take away from creating a positive result from today’s discussions ... As a result, I decided not to attend so that the focus would be solely on fixing our prison system. Most importantly, I remain fully committed to improving our criminal justice system."
Did Meek make the right decision here? Would going to the White House hurt or help his cause?
