March Madness Cancelled Because of the Coronavirus

March Madness has officially been cancelled due to the coronavirus. 

The announcement was made on Thursday, one day after the NBA said it was suspending the rest of the 2019/2020 season.

"This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities," said the NCAA in a statement.

The college baseball World Series has been cancelled too.  The NHL, MLB and MLS have also suspended their seasons.
