Mac Miller's Good Buddy Pushes Back Hard On The Blame Ariana Grande Crowd

by HHL JT

From a distance, it would appear that Mac Miller's life spiraled out of control once Ariana Grande left him and quickly became engaged to Pete Davidson.

Soon after, Miller was arrested for DUI and hit and run. Last Friday, he died of a suspected drug overdose.

Shane Powers, who was a good friend of Miller, made it clear that wasn't the whole story. On the Shane Podcast, he explained that Ariana was the main reason there was a time in Mac's life that he was sober.

"They were very much in love and I have to say, she was incredible when he was first sobering up. She was a fucking G to him," Powers said. "There could not have been anybody more supportive of him being sober than Ariana. I saw that I was around it. I took phone calls from her. 'How do I help,' 'what do I do?'

This little girl was unbelievably involved and helpful to him being healthy. Because whether he was an addict or not, the way that Mac partied was not healthy. I gotta tell you, man, there was no one in his life more ready to go to the wall for him when it came to him being sober. She was an unbelievably stabilizing force in his life. And she was deeply helpful and effective in keeping Mac sober. And helping him get sober."

According, to Grande, her relationship with Miller became "toxic" when he could no longer stay sober, and that led to their breakup.
