Call it the curse of Robin Thicke, but it seems like every day we're hearing about another case of song theft.
The latest involves Mac Miller, who is being sued by soul/funk band Aquarian Dream for swiping a sample from their 1978 song 'Yesterday (Was So Nice Today)' and using it in his track 'Therapy,' featured on his 2014 mixtape, Faces.
The group's keyboardist Jacques Burvick claims that Miller's rep has already admitted that they had tried to clear the sample, but when they couldn't contact the band they just used it anyway.
Aquarian Dream is seeking at least $150,000.
What makes this case a little different than the other ones we've been hearing about lately is that the alleged pilfered sample appeared on a free mixtape, which probably limits the damages.
Miller recently signed a $10 million deal with Warner Bros. So whatever it is, he can probably afford it.
