The arrest of Keefe D in the killing of Tupac Shakur has brought the East Coast-West Coast battle that may have caused the deaths of both 2Pac and Biggie Smalls back into the spotlight.
Ma$e was a part of that battle as one of Bad Boy's big guns when the two rap legends were gunned down.
In fact, Ma$e was trapped in his hotel room with a herd of gangbangers in the hall on the night Big died. [Jump to 1 hour 3 minute.]
“I was in a hotel. I was actually in a hotel with a young lady ... I actually was trapped in the hotel. It was about, probably like, 70 or so Bloods in the hallway. I couldn’t even leave my room," He explained on his podcast with Cam'ron. "Actually, after Big got killed, they were probably looking for more Bad Boy artists. And I couldn’t even leave the room until [Bad Boy bodyguard] Gene Deal had to come get me.”
The whole ordeal taught Ma$e a lesson.
“I was left in L.A. And from that day, I always said, ‘I’m outta here,'” Ma$e explained. “I was left. I came there with people, I ain’t leave with those people. You know how it goes. Find your way home ... when it get crazy, every man for yourself."
