Lyrical Rapper JID Explains Why He Hates Lyrical Rap

by Daryl Nelson

Dreamville rapper JID is a lyrical beast. Anyone who's listened to his DiCaprio releases or his album, The Forever Story, already knows that.

But ironically, he doesn't care for lyrical rap and explained why on the Throwing Fits podcast.

JID says he doesn't listen to lyrical rap despite his reputation as a lyrical rapper

"I don’t listen to my style of rap. People who do the style of rap that I do, I f—ing hate it. It's kind of weird." pic.twitter.com/fQ64ZnGJIv

"I listen to my sh*t 'cause I’m amazing, but I don’t listen to my style of rap," JID explained. "People who do the style of rap that I do, I f*cking hate it. It’s kind of weird ... I’m just a jittery person so it comes out like that. Like, I can’t even stop myself."

Lil Durk is another person who said that lyrical rap isn't his thing because he likes to understand a person's verse upon first listen.

What's your preference? Thought-provoking lyrical rap or the sing-songy, non-lyrical, Auto-Tune stuff?
