Long time rap exec Lyor Cohen will be leaving his label 300 records to be the Head of Global Music at YouTube.
Cohen's biggest star at 300 was and will continue to be Young Thug, with whom he's had an interesting relationship with.
But even if they sometimes butted heads, Cohen has always believed in Thugger.
In fact in an interview with Pigeons and Planes that was published right about when Cohen jumped to YouTube, he said this about Thug.
P&P: Where do you see Young Thug in two years? Cohen: I think Young Thug is developing beautifully, and could be shifting things. It’s another branch of rap music.Hmmm. Thug is undeniably talented and certainly different.
Do you think we may one day look back at Thugger as a sort of genre pioneer?
