Lupe Fiasco's war with Atlantic Records may end up being a boon for his fans.
Yesterday, Fiasco reported on Instagram that Atlantic Records won't released his studio album Tetsuo & Youth until he puts out a radio friendly pop single.
Here is the entirety of the Instagram caption, which Fiasco posted and deleted. (There is a lot of that going around.)
"ATLANTIC RECORDS won’t release the album until they get a “pop” single…so putting together a mini-project while they find one for me. It’s called “Lost In The Atlantic Ocean” with a bunch of my friends to stay active and happy…this a snippet called “Lilies” feat Sirah produced by The Buchannons…finishing today…"In the past, Fiasco has implied he wouldn't be doing any more mixtapes. However, the title Lost in the Atlantic Ocean must have been just too good for him to pass up.
This isn't the first time Lupe has feuded with Atlantic, and there is always a chance they work things out sooner rather than later, and Lost in the Atlantic Ocean never comes to be. Best case scenario for Fiasco fans is they get them both.
You can listen to Fiasco's very lo-fi 'Lilies' snippet.
