Lupe Fiasco Explains How He Recorded His New Album With A Cheap Mic & GarageBand

by Daryl Nelson

If there's anything the last 15 years or so have taught artists, it's that they don't have to spend loads of money on studio time.

These days, there's a bevy of inexpensive recording equipment that one can set up in their home and still churn out a high quality sounding product.

Lupe Fiasco knows what that's like because he tweeted about recording his new Drill Music in Zion album for pretty much nothing.

I “wrote” (I actually didn’t write it more like spoke it) & self-recorded “Drill Music In Zion” from scratch over the course of 72 hours, give or take some hours, only stopping to eat and sleep, entirely on GarageBand with a $100 USB microphone in my living room. #AddValue
