There's been a number of artists who've said that Hip Hop is in a terrible place right now, like Metro Boomin, Bow Wow, and Offset.
Lil Yachty is another person who's spoken ill of the genre, and he said that no one is being original.
"The state of Hip Hop right now is a lot of imitation," he said not too long ago. "It’s a lot of quick, low-quality music being put out. It’s a lot less risk-taking, it’s a lot less originality…People are too safe now. I'd rather take the risk than take the L."
On Thursday, November 30, Boat doubled down on that opinion and said artists need to come with some new ideas.
"I’m coming from a standpoint of just creativity," he explained. "It’s creatively just not at a high."
Yachty then went on to say that he doesn't mean artists should just be more lyrical, because the problem is bigger than that.
Is he right?
