It's not everyday that Lil Wayne gives his opinion on the latest controversy in hip-hop but he weighed in on the drama surrounding DaBaby.
As it's been widely reported, the North Carolina rhymer made some homophobic comments at Rolling Loud Miami in July, which got him taken off a bunch of festivals. There's also been calls to cancel DaBaby permanently.
Wayne was asked about the controversy during an interview with the Los Angeles Times, and he didn't seem surprised about it.
"You know how it does," said Weezy. "The spotlight on artists and celebrities is absolutely crazy. You don’t even have to be a celebrity. Even normal people can feel like they’re wrong because their 200 followers said something. But that’s the power of social media today."
Wayne certainly knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of backlash, because he once said there was no such thing as racism and got blasted for it.
