Lil Wayne wants the name "New Dirty Bastard."
But the Ol Dirty Bastard"s family is saying nuh-uh.
The late rapper's estate has just issued a cease-and-desist letter challenging Young Money's pending applications to trademark the phrase "New Dirty Bastard." In their petition, they argue the estate of Russell Jones [ODB] owns the “full right, title, and interest in and to the name and likeness” of anything ODB.
According to The Blast, ODB's family reached out to Wayne and asked him what he wanted to do with "New Dirty Bastard" before they filed their petition but got no response.
The family recently launched an ODB branded cryptocurrency called Dirty Coin and have plans to further market the late Wu-Tang spitter's name.
They believe Wayne's trademark claim will adversely affect these efforts.
