Lil Wayne Explains Why He Was 'Worried' When Releasing 'Tha Carter'

Wednesday, June 29, 2022, marked the 18th anniversary of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter album. 

The Young Money wordsmith reflected on the project on Instagram and explained why he was worried about dropping it in 2004.

"18 years ago I had no idea of what you’d think abt this album and I was worried abt what it’d do but I never doubted what it would be,” wrote Wayne. “A classic. A living legend. A beast. A jewel. A part of me and you forever. That part. 2 every fan thats been a member of this Carter family, I ain’t sh*t without you."

A little over one year after Tha Carter dropped, Weezy put out Tha Carter II album, and Tha Carter III arrived in 2008. 

Tha Carter IV came three years later before Wayne released Tha Carter V in 2018, an album that some like Charlamagne tha God wasn't feeling.
