Lil Wayne Concert Promoters Sue To Not Give Refunds For Show He Missed

by HHL Editors

Lil Wayne didn’t want to go through security before the 2nd Annual Fall Ball in Columbia, South Carolina a couple of weeks ago. So he refused to enter the Colonial Life Arena and perform.

2 Chainz, Tory Lanez, and Cardi B, who were also on the bill, still went on.

Nevertheless, Colonial Life Arena offered full refunds for anyone who was pissed that Weezy missed the show.

The show's promoters would rather not pay such refunds and have taken to court to argue that the arena held Wayne to different security standards (ie, metal detectors, pat-downs) than they have other artists who play there.

They alleged Colonial Life Arena required the unusual security checks "because the event involved hip-hop artists and likely would result in a largely minority audience."

Now a judge has temporarily put a stop to any refunds. There will be a hearing on the matter this week.

Colonial Life Arena issued this statement on the lawsuit:

"It is unfortunate that the Lil Wayne concert promoters are more concerned about making money than doing the right thing," the arena said in a statement Friday. "They have filed suit and taken legal action to temporarily stop ticket refunds. Colonial Life Arena continues to put the interests of our patrons first and we will continue to push for a fair resolution that includes refunds for those who seek them."
