The late Kurt Cobain gets a songwriting credit on Lil Nas X's new track "Panini," Nas's next single off of his EP 7 which drops tonight.
That's because "Panini" interpolates the Nirvana grunge smash hit" In Bloom".
But it wasn't deliberate.
"People was like, 'Wow, he sampled Nirvana.' I was like, 'No.' It's like, I didn't realize I was using almost the exact same melody," he told Zach Lowe. "The craziest things about 'Panini' is it introduced me to Nirvana's album Nevermind," he continued. "It's like, I always seen the cover, but I never actually listened to it."
Here are the two tracks below. The melody is not that obviously similar and we could see how Nas X swiped it without realizing he had.
