LaVar Ball has managed to get his two youngest sons pro basketball contracts.
In Lithuania.
19-year old LiAngelo Ball and 16-year old LaMelo Ball have both signed one-year deals with Vytautas Prienai in the first-division Lithuanian league.
The financial terms of the deal haven't been disclosed.* Vytautas won the Lithuanian league last year, so minutes could be hard to come by.
“We engaged in serious talks with several teams, and Vytautas made the most sense as LaMelo and LiAngelo work to develop as professionals and set a foundation for their careers,” the Ball's agent Harrison Gaines said. “It was critical to find a situation in a competitive league that works with both of their short- and long-term goals.”
LaVar had pulled LaMelo out of high school this summer after a disagreement with the school's basketball coach. He then pulled LiAngelo out of UCLA after the Bruins suspended him for getting arrested for shoplifting in China.
LaVar has said he was looking for an overseas deal to prepare the boys for the NBA. LaMelo, a 6'5" inch point guard, should eventually pique NBA interest. But LiAngelo, a 6'5" inch "scorer", isn't considered an NBA prospect.
*Update: Each Ball boy is making no more than $500 a game. The season is 36 games, so about 18K each.
