Kobe Bryant did an interview at the PHP Agency Convention in Las Vegas recently. During the talk, he was asked how good his long-time Lakers teammate Shaquille O'Neal would have been if he had the same work ethic Kobe did.
"Greatest of all time. He'd be the first to tell you that. This guy was a force we have never seen," Kobe explained. "I wish he was in the gym. I would have had f***ing 12 rings ... Me and Shaq sit down all the time and I say 'Dude, if your lazy a$$ was in shape.'"
Kobe's math seems to be off. He played eight years with Shaq, winning three rings, and then won another two with Pau Gasol and company. So we think he means 10 rings. Unless he thinks Shaq would have stayed in LA longer and not left to win a title in Miami if he was in better shape.
Kobe also spoke on getting into a fistfight with Shaq, which he said improved their relationship because it got Shaq (and his other teammates) to respect his crazy competitiveness.
