Killer Mike Says His Music Helps People And Travis Scott's Doesn't

by Daryl Nelson

When Killer Mike swept the rap categories at the Grammys this year, Travis Scott's fans were highly upset.

Many of them believed that Mike didn't deserve the wins, and Travis should've been the victor instead.

Then when Mike seemed to send Travis a shot on his song "Still Talk'n That Sh*t," off his new Songs for Sinners & Saints album, Travis' fans were triggered even more.

"You gon respect me like a motherf*ckin' Grammy winner / Like I cooked your favorite rapper like a Granny dinner,"Mike raps on the song.

He talked about the rising tension between himself and Travis during an interview with Complex. Basically, Mike said that he respects Travis, but he makes music to help people and Travis doesn't.

"An artist I deeply have reverence for … Travis Scott’s amazing," said Mike. "I’m never going to think anybody deserves anything in front of me ... But a lot of his fans, they don’t like Mike now, and I have to accept that."

"I listened to Travis, I jammed," he continued. "But man, does the record hit you when child support on your Black ass for the mistakes you’ve made, when you facing jail, your suspended license? That’s what my music does."

Which do you prefer? Travis' vibey turn-up music or Mike's highly skilled lyrical approach?
