Keri Hilson has been making the promotional rounds for her new Lifetime movie Lust: A Seven Deadly Sins Story, and during a recent interview she spoke about Beyoncé, who she was accused of dissing in her 2008 track "Turnin’ Me On.”
“She can sing, but need to move it to the [left] / She need to go have some babies / She needs to sit down, she fadin’… / Go ‘head and tell them folks how long I been writing your songs / I been puttin' you on, just check the credits, ho," sung Hilson in that song.
Then in 2011, at the Soul Train Music Awards, when Hilson was asked to hold up a magazine that had Beyoncé and Jay-Z on the cover, she refused. The "Pretty Girl Rock" singer caught some serious backlash for the move, and her career nosedived afterward.
But Hilson said her issues with the Lemonade singer are now in the past, and they're both good now.
"She actually has introduced herself. It was a gracious moment,” said Hilson in her interview. “I appreciated it. I feel like she understood what happened, what had transpired and there was a bit of healing in that moment when we met. I take her as a very intuitive kind of soul, as am I ... We can understand and nod and have a mutual respect. I think at the very minimum there can be that. That’s always possible and that’s where I’m at. I made a decision that was not authentic to who I truly am and of course I regret it. Of course.”
