Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. did not win the Grammy for the album of the year.
But it just got something a lot more unusual than that: A Pulitzer Prize for Music.
It's the first time that a non-classical or non-jazz work has ever won the award.
The Pulitzer board described DAMN. as “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.”
Congrats to Kendrick.
Congratulations to @kendricklamar, @dangerookipawaa and @Interscope! #Pulitzer pic.twitter.com/fFQBYnoW9F
