Kendrick Lamar Addresses White Fan N-Bomb Debacle

by HHL JT

During a festival last month, Kendrick Lamar pulled a white fan named Delaney from the crowd so she could rap along with "m.A.A.d City."

Things got awkward quickly because the only part she really knew was the part of the chorus that went "nigga." The crowd booed her indiscretions and Kendrick warned her that she needed to self-censor. She didn't, and he stopped the song again and told her to step down.

There was much debate on who's to blame for one of the cringiest videos you're going to see.

Complicating the situation is that some rappers, like Travis Scott and Rich Homie Quan, have actively encouraged their white fans to rap along with their n-bombs.

Kendrick doesn't agree with that. He gave his perspective on the situation in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

“Let me put it to you in its simplest form. I’ve been on this earth for 30 years, and there’s been so many things a Caucasian person said I couldn't do. Get good credit. Buy a house in an urban city. So many things—’you can’t do that’—whether it’s from afar or close up. So if I say this is my word, let me have this one word, please let me have that word.”

What do you think of Kendrick's take?
