Kanye West won't be hosting anymore more parties at the Diamond Cross Ranch in Wyoming.
And neither will any other rapper.
Last week, the GOOD Music boss held his Ye listening party at the Jackson Hole ranch for celebrities, friends, and tastemakers. Jane Golliher, the owner of the ranch, said that although she thought it was a good marketing opportunity for her business, she had to undergo a "learning curve" because she was dealing with rap music.
Golliher told The Blast that the event was supposed to be held indoors on the ranch's property. But Kanye changed his mind "every 30 seconds," so things had to be moved outside.
During the event, Golliher said she got many complaints about the volume of the music from the ranch's neighbors. Music in Teton County has to be below 80 decibels, and the launch party got up to 120, which is comparable to a thunderclap or chainsaw.
To make matters worse on the decibel front, the event was supposed to end at 10:00 PM -- which is the latest time music can be played outside in the county. But it didn't even start until 9:30 PM. Golliher's husband ended up having to warn people that he was going to cut off the power unless things shut down.
In the end, Golliher said she has no animosity toward Kanye or his team, but felt that they weren't honest about the details of the event. The ranch owner added that while she'll allow other musical events on the ranch in the future, she won't allow rap and will probably only do events during the day.
