If there has been one big takeaway from Omarion's 'Post To Be,' a collaborative effort with Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko on Sex Playlist, it would have to be Jhene's "he's gotta eat the booty like groceries" line. It felt out of character for the singer, and we've been waiting to hear her speak on it in an interview. Complex recently sat down with Aiko, and she revealed that notorious eater-of-anything Kevin Gates was the inspiration for the line.
And part of that is funny! Speaking of which—let’s talk about the booty line in the Omarion and Chris Brown song you’re on, “Post to Be.” Yes! I’m glad you asked about this. When I got the song, obviously I’ve known Omarion since even before he was in B2K. I loved the song, and of course I said, yes, that I wanted to do it. Just playing with the rhyme scheme. The line of 'Post to be' reminded me of the Kevin Gates Vines where he’s talking about booty. I sat down with Micah Powell, who is a writer I've worked with for a long time. I sat down with him, and I was like, “Whatever we say, I really want to say something about eating the booty.” He keeps saying in the Vines—“You ’posed to eat the booty.” This song was really funny and fun. I didn't really think about it too hard. I really take my time when I write. With this, I was like, let’s just have fun. I didn't know that it was going to be so popular. People take it different ways. Some people are appalled, some people think it’s funny. I feel like it’s a fun song. It’s not meant to play at anyone’s wedding or funeral. She also talks about wishing she could go on a date with Tupac, being friends with Big Sean, the idea behind the "Spotless Mind" video, and more.
