Jermaine Dupri Comes Down On Steph Curry For Saying He's Tired Of 'Not Like Us'

by Daryl Nelson

Much is being made of Steph Curry and LeBron James disagreeing about Kendrick Lamar's ubiquitous Drake diss "Not Like Us."

Yesterday, on July 17, while Team USA was warming up to play Serbia, the two hoop stars were seen talking about the song.

Steph said he's basically tired of it, and LeBron said he still loves it.

Right after, their conversation went viral and Jermaine Dupri — who was leaving an LL Cool J show at the time — weighed in on Steph's opinion.

According to the So So Def founder, Steph's generation doesn't understand the connection between rap and the streets.

"The reason why it’s no male stars in Hip Hop anymore that have the impact that LL Cool J has and had, is because the goal in Hip Hop used to be impact," said Dupri. "Not sales, not charts, impact — how hard you could impact the streets. That’s no longer the goal and to me, is the sole reason why rap is not what rap used to be. Because n*ggas don’t care about impacting the streets no more."

Do you agree or disagree with that reasoning?
