JAY-Z's '4:44' Has Been Illegally Downloaded More Than A Million Times

JAY-Z's new album 4:44 has gone platinum is less than a week.

And that's not even counting the million plus people who have downloaded it illegally.

According to media analytics specialist MUSO, 4:44 was downloaded illegally 971,196 times in the first 72 hours after its release. 56% of those downloads were in the US, 5% in the UK and the rest spread out globally.

While that sound like a ton, it's actually behind the 1.32 million illegal downloads Drake's More Life project racked up in its first 72 hours earlier this year

More Life was available everywhere, whereas 4:44 is just on Tidal, suggesting Drake is significantly more popular than Hov.

Andy Chatterley, CEO and Co-Founder of MUSO, says that Drake’s bigger numbers “suggest that piracy is not as dependent on exclusive windowing as we may believe."
