JAY-Z won't be joining his wife on the list of the musical A-listers who have done a Super Bowl halftime show. At least not this NFL season.
“Lots of people have been saying Jay will perform with Justin Timberlake, but it is simply not the case. "An insider told The Sun newspaper. "He has enough songs to create an incredible performance but he really has no plans to do the half-time show.”The NFL is famous for trying to get their Super Bowl performers to do the show for free. Their argument is that the exposure the artist gets is more than worth it. (In 2015, Missy Elliott's sales did skyrocket after she stole the show as "surprise" guest during Katy Perry's halftime.)
But Hov's reluctance to jump onto America most-watched stage may have nothing to do with money. There are reports he's pissed about the NFL's simmering Colin Kaepernick situation.
Do you think JAY should do the Super Bowl?
