While the United States is pretty much on lockdown because of The Coronavirus, prisoners are locked down more and are fighting to stay healthy and not contract the virus.
Jay-Z and Meek Mill have their backs.
On April 3, the REFORM Alliance announced that co-founders Jay-Z, Meek Mill, Robert Kraft, Michael Rubin and more are joining forces with author Shaka Senghor to send almost 100,000 surgical masks to prisons across the country.
Rikers Island in New York City, which has so far had 231 inmates and 223 staff members that tested positive for the virus, will receive 50,000 masks and another 2,500 for the Rikers’ medical facility.
The Tennessee Department of Corrections will be given 40,000 masks, while Mississippi State Penitentiary is set to receive 5,000 masks.
This comes as no surprise, as Jay-Z and Yo Gotti have been working to help the prisons in Mississippi for some time now.
Great job, Jay-Z, Meek, and team.
