Isaiah Thomas is one of basketball's great what-ifs
Before hurting his hip in the 2017 conference finals, the then-Celtics star was an MVP candidate and in the conversation for the greatest little man baller of all time.
However, the 5'9" inch guard never recovered from the injury, which left him more-or-less washed at 28.
He did get a cup of coffee with the Suns this year, his first NBA action since 2022.
While his NBA career is one of frustration, it may have just saved his life. According to Thomas, he almost got snuffed out in his hometown of Tacoma, Washington, only surviving because his would-be killer recognized him from the court.
"I really had a life changing moment yesterday where a kid pulled a AK47 out on me and the homies and if it wasn't for who I was and him recoginizing me in my own city he probably woulda ended all of our lives. Be safe, he reported.
