Ice-T Explains Why Rappers Shouldn't Beef In Today's Social Media Age

by Daryl Nelson

Ice-T knows a thing or two about beefing with other rappers since he battled LL Cool J back in the day.

So, he's a good person to weigh in on today's rap beefs, which he did during a visit to the Boss Talk 101 podcast.

In Ice's opinion, rappers shouldn't beef in today's social media age, because things can escalate very easily.

"The disses that’s going on, like, I can outrap you is one thing. But then when you take it to the next level, like, 'When I see you it’s a problem.' The problem with beef is that it can escalate away from you," he explained. "Say I have beef with Treach and I’m talking sh*t about Treach. I could run into one of his fans on the street who wants to get active. Having beef is just not smart if you can avoid it."

"They didn’t have social media, big difference," Ice continued, referring to his beef with LL. "Social media is an amplifier to everything. It forces reactions that really could be squashed so much simpler ... Why people have beef and take it to social media is beyond me, especially if you know a n*gga’s phone number."

Do you agree with his point?
