Ice-T Explains How His Classic Beef with Soulja Boy Began

Soulja Boy has had many beefs over his always entertaining career. But few quite as ridiculous as his tiff with OG Ice-T which started when Ice yelled "Eat a d*ck! This n***a single-handedly killed Hip Hop" at Soulja on the intro to a 2007 mixtape

Ice was on Ebro today, and he explained the origins of the beef.

"This is what happened, Ebro," Ice said. "Back in the day, I was doing a mixtape for some of my friends [DJ Cisco] that are no longer my friends. Get this out there. These cats went behind my back. And, right before I went into the booth they started throwing stones in the pool. 'N*ggas don't want to hear you man, they wanna hear Soulja Boy, they wanna hear Hurrican Chris. Now, rappers know that when you step into that booth, you getting ready to drop your bars, that's like walking into the ring ... So I was like 'f*ck that n*gga.' But they could have yelled anybody ... The cats took that rant and put it at the beginning of their mixtape. That was not supposed to go out. That was me getting into my zone. At that time I didn't even really know who Soulja Boy was."

The beef lasted a few years and featured such attacks as Soulja ripping Ice's hairline and Ice threatening the entire West Coast on Soulja.

Nothing really became of it, but it will always stand out as one of the first big beefs of the internet era.
