'Ice Cream Freestyle' Meek Mill

by Sermon

The return of Meek Mill is sweet. He got released from prison in December, teased us on Instagram, and built up our anticipation for his sophomore album Dreams Worth More Than Money. This week, he emerged with two records -- "Ice Cream Freestyle" and the Jahlil Beats-produced "Monster." While the latter is a good track, it's his bars over Raekwon's classic that stood out the most, with a focus and eagerness that we haven't heard from Meek in a long time. Check out 'Ice Cream Freestyle' below.

Meek uses the quick two and a half minutes to address everything from the lingering issues of racism in America, to rumors that he's dating Nicki Minaj, to his time behind bars (and a flex bar about talking to Jay-Z in jail), and much more. He shines with plenty of quotables including, "A gangsta, I was tryna be a king/ You're tryna score a point, I was tryna get a ring." It's one of the best freestyles we've heard from Meek as well in some time.

If this is the Meek Mill of 2015, Dreams Worth More Than Money is going to be one hell of an album. Hopefully, he'll be going at more instrumentals in the run up.
