There have been instances of celebrities and blue checks saying "All Lives Matter" because they haven't really been paying much attention to what the phrase "Black Lives Matter" has come to represent.
That's not what's going on with Gillie Da Kid. The rapper turned podcaster has kicked up controversy by explaining why he's All Lives Matter over Black Lives Matter.
"All Lives Matter, I don't give a f*ck if you white, black, blue, purple, brown, tangerine. Ya'll want a n*gga to go out here headfirst and tell all of these white people Black Lives Matter. But my Black life didn't matter to the n*gga that tried to execute me. To the n*gga that shot me in my wrist, stomach and foot. The n*gga that tried to have my mommy singing 'It's So Hard To Say Goodbye.' My Black life didn't matter to him, all the n*ggas I knew been shot by n*ggas. And what about my nieces and nephews who are half black and half white. Only 50 percent of their lives matter? And I understand the whole Black lives movement, we've been oppressed, we've been done wrong ... We do wrong to each other. We do more f*cked up sh*t to each other than everybody," Gillie said.
Gillie's words got him trending on Twitter, and most of the Tweets aren't feeling his POV.
I used to feel bad that Gillie got knocked out in front of his entire label in his city on South Street during All Star Weekend by Beanie Sigel.

Well you heard what Gillie said! And I’m with him. It’s explicit so excuse the language. But not one lie was told. π€·π½βοΈ #BlackLivesMattter #BLM pic.twitter.com/Bxh2OCvcPA
