Geoffrey Owens Gets Ripped By Nicki Minaj's Fans For Giving Away The 25K She Gave Him

Actor Geoffrey Owens is known for playing the character Elvin Tibideaux on The Cosby Show, but he's been struggling financially since then.

In 2018 he was seen working at Trader Joe's, which became major news at the time. To help him out, Tyler Perry cast him in his show The Haves and Have Nots, and Nicki Minaj gave him $25,000.

Owens talked about those things during an interview on the Big Tigger Morning Show on Atlanta station V-103 and revealed that he gave Nicki's money to charity. [Jump to the 7:11 mark]

"At the time, it seemed like the right thing to do," he explained. "If Nicki Minaj would have hired me, if she had paid me $25,000 to do something I would've said thank you for the work, I accept ... It was a lovely, incredible gesture, but at the time it felt like just being given that money just as a gift didn't seem right to keep it ... I'm in need to a certain extent, but there are other people that are much more in need of this money."

The interview was a couple of weeks ago, but a lot of Nicki's fans are just catching wind of it, and they blasted Owens for giving away the money.

"Bruh YOU were the CHARITY f*ck is you doing lol," wrote someone on Instagram. "He did the same sh*t on the Cosby Show when him [and] Sandra was living in that terrible apartment lol. Refusing help."

"Donating the 25K because of pride is crazy work," another person wrote.

"Confusing a blessing with a handout is very prideful," a third comment read.
