When you see a crew of people surrounding a rapper on stage, they're often wearing some merch, like a t-shirt of the artist's face or the name of the tour.
But other times that doesn't happen at all, and everyone rocks their own outfit. G Herbo said he won't allow that at his shows anymore, and his reasoning for why sounds a bit like a money grab.
On Instagram, the Midwest rhymer told his crew they're only allowed on stage with him if they are wearing one of his shirts. Furthermore, he's no longer giving them t-shirts to wear at shows for free, and they now have to buy them for full price.
"Man, look. This shit gettin' too far," said a groggy eyed Herbo. "We trying to pop the shows, we trying to give statements ... We don't want to give [away] $40 shirts. Y'all ain't gettin' no shirt coming to my shit. Don't even come. Everyone with me gotta have a motherfuckin' shirt on. Ya'll can't stand next to us with no regular clothes on looking silly as hell. That shit over with. We ain't buying no shirts."
Is Herbo right to tell his people to pay for shirts, or should he be giving them away?
