French Montana Explains Why It's Harder To Be a Rapper Than A Baller

by HHL JT

French Montana has been pretty successful as a rapper.

We all know his name, after all.

However, French's career has hit a snag. His latest album They Got Amnesia aimed to prove his critics who said he was just a feature artist wrong.  However, it flopped to a less than 15K opening week, proving them right.

Perhaps that's why he's speaking on how hard it is to make it as a rapper in the first place.

He broke it down during a chat with Ebro and Peter Rosenberg.

“It's like, you better off making it in the NBA than making it in Hip Hop. NBA, what they got, twenty-eight teams? Fifteen players on every team," he said. “You're talking about Hip Hop? You can't even name ten people that's hot every couple months. The odds is anybody could do it if it was easy. So, you're talking about tryin' to make it? The hustle gotta be relentless. Can't take no for an answer.”

There are actually 30 teams in the NBA.  And the median salary is about $4 million.  The average is close to $8 million.

So, yeah, French is right.  It's much harder to make it as a rapper than a baller.
