French Montana knows his status in the game has been slipping.
And he's doing something to shore up clout.
In an interview with Ebro, French spoke on the sting of seeing his peers surpass him and explained that he quit drinking so he can keep up.
“I feel like I seen a lot of my peers that came from less fortunate places and accomplished so many things,” he explained. “I feel like I could have been … I’ve been seeing a lot of my peers that just surpassed me and I’m like, ‘Yo, how they doing it?’”
“Like, yo, they act like they drinking with you … Like how Akon used to be with the Shirley Temple acting drunk?” he continued. “And I’d be like, ‘Yo, you don’t even drink.’ He’d like, ‘Man, I got to act drunk with these people.’ I like, ‘Yo, I got to learn from that.’”
According to French, he quit drinking in 2019. So far, he hasn't seen the kind of success he had hoped, but sobriety is a long process
