Frank Ocean Cancels Concerts; Responds To Dad's Huge Lawsuits

by HHL Editors

What's up with Frank Ocean?

This week, the elusive singer pulled out of the Hangout Music Festival on May 19 and the Sasquatch! Festival on May 26, citing "production delays beyond his control" for both cancellations.

"Production delays" usually means something else, and Frank's fans are wondering if there's something wrong with their guy, or if he's possibly prepping new music.

In other Ocean news, the 29-year-old has responded to the $14.5 million lawsuit his dad Calvin Cooksey filed against him earlier this year.

In his suit, Cooksey alleges that Ocean libeled him in an open letter Ocean wrote after the Orlando gay nightclub massacre.

Cooksey claims his son's reasons for calling him out as homophobic and transphobic in the note posted to Tumblr were to promote his upcoming album Blonde and to "ruin his father.”

In court documents obtained by Pitchfork, Ocean argues that he is immune to his father’s suit because the open letter contains “statements of opinion,” which are “not the proper subjects of a libel claim.”
