Grape-lover Post Malone won the Best Rap/Hip-Hop album at the AMA awards last night, with his Hollywood's Bleeding defeating Meek Mill's Championships and Travis Scott's Astroworld.
Post isn't someone who "raps". In fact, The Grammys booted his last album, beerbongs & bentleys, out of the Best Rap Album category for that reason.
Rap/Hip Hop is a much broader category and one could argue that Post's music at least intersects with that genre.
However, Post's been fairly dismissive of Hip Hop in the past, saying this to a Polish magazine in 2017.
"If you're looking for lyrics, if you're looking to cry, if you're looking to think about life, don't listen to hip-hop," Post said. "There's great hip-hop songs where they talk about life and they spit that real sh*t, but right now, there's not a lot of people talking about real shit."
Perhaps this is why a lot of folks on Twitter were not happy with Postie's AMA win.
