Anytime Eminem drops anything, it's bound to sell. That's where he's at in his career. And, using today's standard, the 148,000 copies Shady XV moved in its first week is considered really, really good. However, for someone as big as Eminem (even if it's not a solo album, there's plenty of Marshall) that's a bit disappointing.
Rick Ross' Hood Billionaire, the other big Hip Hop release of the week, pulled in 79,000 copies. Not bad for his second album of 2014, until you factor in that Mastermind did 174K first week. It's a substantial drop that could be blamed on rushing another album when fans are still enjoying the first. Both sales figures are in line with the projections made last week.
