Not a good week for Hip Hop album debuts.
Lil Durk's Remember My Name did the "best", moving 26,919 sales plus streaming, good for 14th on the album charts. Dom Kennedy's By Dom did 22,555 in its first week, finishing 19th.
Those are well under the numbers that artists like Yelawolf, Tech9, Action Bronson and Boosie Badazz were able to debut with in recent months. To say nothing of A$AP Rocky's easy six figure haul. (Speaking of Rocky, A.L.L.A did 46K in its second week, slipping from first to third.)
But Durk and Dom still crushed poor Troy Ave. His album Major Without A Deal has sold only 4373 units since its release Friday, despite features from Cam'ron, 50 Cent, Fat Joe and Ty Dolla $ign.
Among those, just 30 were physical copies of the album.
Have you listened to any of these LPs? If so, did they deserve better fates?
Update: Troy Ave. seems to dispute these numbers. I guess we'll see tomorrow or Monday if they are inaccurate.
