Gucci Mane has had no trouble releasing music from prison.
In fact, an incarcerated GuWop is more prolific than 9 out of 10 rappers who have their freedom.
However things hit a snag when Mane tried to host his homie Mike WiLL Made-It's upcoming project Ransom 2.
Mike WiLL explains on Twitter:
Really had to delay #RANSOM2 to make sure everything was A1 on my end on Formation, but couldn't spill the beans of course.

To see it all rollout & be so A1, salute Bey, HOV, Big Jon, & her whole team. — Mike WiLL Made-It (@MikeWiLLMadeIt) February 8, 2016
Now I can get #RANSOM2 done how I want to. Unfortunately the feds said no to Gucci hosting a project from jail.

But when in Rome, live in Rome. New deals on the line & prior agreements etc... — Mike WiLL Made-It (@MikeWiLLMadeIt) February 8, 2016
Saying all this to say. #RANSOM2 is now officially an album.
Coming very very very soon. — Mike WiLL Made-It (@MikeWiLLMadeIt) February 8, 2016
My "Trap Tape" is still coming once the Trap God comes home.#FreeGucci — Mike WiLL Made-It (@MikeWiLLMadeIt) February 8, 2016
As for when Gucci is getting out ...
Earlier this year his record label claimed he would be free in March. However they quickly took that back. His sentence for possessing a firearm as a felon runs out in December of 2016.
