The bomb squad was dispatched to Jay-Z's 40-40 club in New York City at 7 AM this morning after a bizarre object that looked like an explosive was found in a phone booth outside the venue.
According to police, the device had “a flashing light with wires attached to two pieces of wood.”
After the phone booth (remember, them?) and the object were x-rayed it was determined the device was a hoax. Although traffic wasn't stopped, the area was cleared of on-lookers and pedestrians for most of the morning.
Jay-Z opened the 40/40 club in New York City in 2003. It also has locations in Brooklyn, by the Barclays Center, and at Atlanta's Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
It is unclear if the hoax was directed at Jay-Z and his sports memorabilia filled venue. If it was, the 40/40 Club's Yelp ratings suggest it has a lot of disgruntled former patrons.
Or maybe the Illuminati has turned on Jay.
