ESPN Fires Robert Griffin III

by HHL JT

Robert Griffin III has been fired from ESPN in what is being called a cost-cutting move.

Sunday NFL Countdown host Samantha Ponder has also been terminated.

Both Griffin and Ponder are making seven figures, and ESPN is expected to pay out their contracts.

Last year, Griffin was considered for ESPN’s No. 2 college football game analyst with Sean McDonough.  When that went to Greg McElroy, Griffin's star began to fall, and ESPN decided he had no real future at the network.

While Griffin was known for his off-beat and often controversial comments, the network never publicly disciplined him.

Last week, he was mocked all over social media for posting a photo of him and his wife double-throating a giant croissant while in Paris for the Olympics.

No word on whether that photo influenced the Bristol's brass's decision to let him go.
